The Company

Few organizations can keep up with the fast-paced, 24/7 nature of today's media coverage; even fewer can claim to have helped shape it. Bloomberg has long been a leading source of data and news and presents one of the most challenging environments in financial journalism. Bloomberg offers a unique opportunity to produce real-time stories that shape the markets and our world. Our more than 2,200 reporters and editors in 130 bureaus around the globe cover markets and break news for 250,000-plus Bloomberg clients and hundreds of the world's biggest newspapers.

The Role

Bloomberg News seeks editors in its New York office to quickly read through breaking news releases, such as company earnings announcements, to find financial details that they will immediately transform into real-time headlines for trading clients. Knowledge of the economy, financial markets and business is preferred, and the ideal candidate should have at least two years of post-undergraduate experience.

The successful applicant will have superior news judgment, solid math and typing skills, and attention to detail. The editor will work within a high-pressure team environment, in which the delay of a second or less can spell the difference between a win and a loss. About 85 percent of all breaking news stories published by Bloomberg News originates with the headlines produced by this desk.
