The Role
Bloomberg is offering "B-Trained for Summer in the City", a Spring Evening Training Class and paid Summer Internship designed for students who have basic programming knowledge and are interested in a career in software development and finance. The evening training class is a 12-week training program starting on January 26th 2010 through April 13, 2010 followed by a 12-week paid summer internship as a Financial Software Developer. You will learn from the best instructors and apply your knowledge in a practical fast-paced business environment.
Please note: the internship is contingent on successful completion of the training program.

Curriculum Highlights
- Introduction to computing: brief overview of software development
- Becoming a power user on UNIX: managing files and processes, customization, and practical commands
- Introduction to programming in C: control structures, functions, pointers, data structures, sorting and searching
- Introduction to databases: tables, indexing, simple SQL queries
- Introduction to software engineering at Bloomberg: life cycle of a project

The Training Program
- Lectures, labs, homework, and an in-class programming project.
- In addition, candidates will be invited to learn more about our fast-paced, diverse, team-oriented, customer-focused and energizing culture of excellence by meeting with key players in R&D, sales, analytics and finance.

Eligibility
You are eligible if you meet the following requirements at the time of registration:
- You are available for fulltime employment in 2011
- You are interested in a career in finance and software development
- You do not have extensive programming experience
- You are not a Computer Science or Computer Engineering major
- You are not a current employee/intern of Bloomberg LP
- You are not an immediate family member (parent, child, sibling, or spouse) or relative of a Bloomberg employee

Qualifications
- Strong technical skills and/or a strong interest in programming
- Problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with a desire to design and develop financial software applications
- Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts/Master of Science, PhD or equivalent experience in one of the following disciplines:
*Accounting
*Economics
*Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.)
*Finance
*Mathematics
*Physics
*Statistics
*Minor in Computer Science OR work experience in a related field, with two programming classes
