The Role

Bloomberg New Energy Finance is the world's leading provider of industry information and analysis to investors, corporations and governments in clean energy, low carbon technologies and the carbon markets. Our dedicated global network of analysts are continuously monitoring market changes, deal flow and financial activity allowing instantaneous transparency into the clean energy and carbon markets. Through our Carbon Markets division we provide market-leading analysis and research for the global carbon markets. This includes analysis, price forecasting, consultancy and risk management.

The successful candidate will report on time-sensitive news events in the Clean Energy industry and will be expected to eventually edit the daily flow of Bloomberg New Energy Finance news wire style stories. Responsibilities will also include writing and posting the company's weekly podcast on the same issues and occasional reporting on public policies affecting the Clean Energy sector.

The Bloomberg New Energy Finance news team's primary focus is on financial transactions. The right candidate welcomes the prospect of learning how a wind power project gets financed, how a solar company lists its shares on a public stock exchange, or how a cellulosic ethanol firm raises venture capital financing.

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience as a journalist, reporter or writer
  • Passion for the Clean Energy and Low Carbon markets
  • Solid working knowledge of Financial Services, including public markets, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and project finance
  • Able to assimilate and assess new and highly technical information
  • Exceptional communication skills and professionalism
  • Must act as a thought-leader and self-starter, and possess strong multi-tasking ability and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Independence, creativity, and self-motivation required to thrive in fast paced environment quite similar to a start-up venture
  • Experience in the Clean Energy and/or Low Carbon markets preferred, but not required
  • Editing experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
