The Role

Bloomberg is seeking a talented editor to cover lobbying and lobbyists. This editor will track the impact of the influence community at the intersection of government and business. This editor will pay particular attention to the role of money and influence in shaping policy decisions in legislation, regulation and government spending. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of lobbying, lobbyists, campaign finance and the Federal Election Commission. This editor should have at least five years of experience in business or government journalism, such as for a financial newspaper or real-time news service, and be able to produce clear, concise, and accurate copy under deadline pressure. This editor will work well with other editors, reporters and analysts, and be able to understand and analyze government and industry data. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating coverage with Bloomberg News teams and identifying relevant Bloomberg content
  • Working closely with product development, R&D and data teams
  • Managing and optimizing processes and procedures
  • Providing insights and perspective on the role of money and influence in Washington

  • Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • At least five years of business and government journalism experience with a proven track record of success
  • Experience working in a real-time news environment is desirable
  • Deep knowledge of lobbying from a government and business perspective
  • Experience in database journalism
  • Experience covering government and business
