The Role

Bloomberg has created a new web-based information product that will report on, analyze and quantify the impact of government actions on business and industry.It brings the same unparalleled level of fact-based, objective reporting and analysis to policymaking as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

Bloomberg is seeking an experienced graphics editor. This editor will be responsible for conceptualizing and editing graphics and charts that complement business stories and analyses and others that stand alone. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of experience in graphics journalism, such as for a newspaper, real-time news service or website.
The successful visual journalist will join an industry-focused team of reporters, editors and financial analysts to deliver high-quality content to customers. The graphics editor will:

  • Manage a team of graphic reporters and artists to identify and create graphic opportunities across key editorial content areas for daily, centerpiece and long-term coverage.
  • Plan, report and edit richly detailed static and interactive graphics and charts to complement business stories and analyses.
  • Help produce standalone graphics that visually tell stories with the use of graphics, charts, data, timelines, photos and dynamic interactive content.
  • Conceptualize unique visuals for sophisticated presentation.
  • Help quantify and explain the impact of government actions on business and industry.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and accurate copy under deadline pressure.
  • Analyze large data sets and databases.
  • Fact-check data against constantly updating content to ensure consistentcy of graphics and stories.
  • Work very closely with graphic artists, reporters and editors to deliver top-notch visual products.

  • Qualifications

    Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least three years of graphics journalism experience; five preferred.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Track record of success as a manager
  • Facility with complicated data; ability to compute in Excel.
  • Knowledge of other Web design technologies, like Illustrator, Photoshop or In Design, is a plus
  • Excellent grammar, spelling and attention to detail are required.
  • General understanding of government affairs, business and public policy
  • Must be able to work in conjunction with other graphic journalists, reporters, editors, photo staff and production team.
  • Superb organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to react unforseen challenges.
  • An entrepreneurial and energetic approach to the job.
  • A good communicator, collaborator and team player.
