The Role

Bloomberg has created a new web-based information product that will report on, analyze and quantify the impact of government actions on business and industry.It brings the same unparalleled level of fact-based, objective reporting and analysis to policymaking as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

Bloomberg is seeking a weekend news editor. This editor will be responsible for
managing the Bloomberg Government website and news coverage on weekends. The ideal candidate should have at least five years of experience in business or government journalism, such as for a financial newspaper or real-time news service, and be able to write and edit clear, concise and accurate copy under deadline pressure. This editor will have commensurate online experiece. The weekend editor will work with other editorial teams to coordinate and implement coverage, maintain and update the website, and serve an audience of government and business decision makers. This editor will work a four-day week, Thursday through Sunday, and report to a deputy managing editor.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Handling weekend content, including web production
  • Demonstrating excellent news judgment
  • Working closely with web producers, graphic reporters and photo editors
  • Collaborating with Bloomberg News editors and analysts
  • Managing and optimizing processes and procedures within the team
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • At least five years of business or government journalism experience
  • Experience working in a real-time news environment
  • Experience covering government and business
  • Ability to work Thursday through Sunday
