Bloomberg is creating a new web-based information product that will report on, analyze and quantify the impact of government actions on business and industry. It will bring the same unparalleled level of fact-based, objective reporting and analysis to policymaking as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

The Role

Bloomberg is seeking someone with proven research skills specific to government grants. The Researcher will work with the Bloomberg Government Data Team to identify, process, validate, enhance and maintain relevant government spend databases to be integrated within the Bloomberg Government application. As part of the Data Team the Researcher will work closely with the Bloomberg Government development, sales and business teams to speed and enhance development of Bloomberg Government product features.

Responsibilities

• Identify, download, format, validate, enhance, edit, maintain, normalize & integrate key government data sets into Bloomberg Government
• Re-format and move data in and out of .TXT, .DBF, .XLS, .PDF, .DOC and other data formats
• Leverage relationships to procure primary source federal government data
• Knowledge of the operation of the U.S. Federal Government
• Familiarity with data sources such as: FPDS-NG, FAADS, Recovery, CCR, FBO, Federal Budget, Exhibit 53, A-300
• Two years of experience collecting and processing government strategic and financial data
• Proficiency using Government websites such as ccr.gov, fbo.gov, congress.gov, data.gov, house.gov.
• Must be able to work in fast-paced, detailed-oriented environment
• SQL, Advanced Excel, FoxPro experience is a plus
