Bloomberg is creating a new web-based information product that will report on, analyze and quantify the impact of government actions on business and industry. It will bring the same unparalleled level of fact-based, objective reporting and analysis to policymaking as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

The Role

Bloomberg is seeking experienced taxation reporters in its Washington, DC office. These reporters will cover taxation policy from the legislative, regulatory and business perspectives, ranging from Capitol Hill to federal agencies. They will focus on reporting and analyzing the business implications of government actions. The successful applicant should have the ability to source within Congress and the White House as well as in federal agencies. The applicant should also be knowledgeable about the economy, financial markets and business. Applicants should have the ability to produce breaking news stories under real-time deadline pressure in a team environment, even as they regularly develop sophisticated, exclusive enterprise and analytic pieces.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent
  • Experience working in a real-time news environment
  • Minimum of three years of taxation journalism experience
  • Minimum of three to five years of business journalism experience
  • Ability to write quickly, concisely and accurately under deadline pressure
  • Ability to source within Congress and the White House as well as in federal agencies
  • Experience covering government and business
  • An entrepreneurial and energetic approach to the job
  • A good communicator, collaborator and team player
  • A curious mind and a scrappy passion for reporting
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the government, economy, financial markets and industry is essential
