The Role

The Communications Manager for Bloomberg's Core Terminal/Financial Products & Services will be responsible for raising awareness of Bloomberg as an innovator of financial products and solutions. Working closely with the Director of Communications, the successful candidate will help develop strategic external communications programs to help support sales and increase revenue.

The ideal candidate will have financial services experience, a proven track record for establishing strong partnerships with executives and for developing creative solutions to help meet business goals. The Manager must be able to work well in a fast-past, high-pressure and results-oriented environment and keep a wide variety of projects on-time and on-budget. He/She should be skilled in media relations, corporate communications and crisis preparation. This position will also have a close working relationship with marketing.

A person with a background in financial public relations, financial business media or corporate communications will be well suited. He/She should have a proven ability to make media pitches and secure media placements, and an understanding of financial analytics or at least the means to comprehend and explain complex business topics.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Communications Director in developing and executing proactive media relations strategies including building and maintaining relationships with media in business, technology and general news arenas
  • Proactively and positively position the company in the marketplace and show differentiation from competitors
  • Develop, implement and maintain appropriate metrics to evaluate impacts and effectiveness of external communications

Qualifications

  • 7 to 10 years of demonstrated experience in developing and implementing proactive and reactive media relations for business/financial, trade, and technology media.

  • Good listener and fast learner, who can provide solid counsel
  • Taking a fearless approach to rapidly creating solutions, gaining internal support and driving it over the finish line to secure results
  • Strong team player
