The Role

Bloomberg Government, a new web-based information product that reports on, analyzes and quantifies government actions and their effect on business and industry, has established itself as the must-have information source.

Bloomberg Government brings the same unparalleled level of fact-based, objective reporting and analysis to policy-making as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

Bloomberg Government is seeking an experienced policy analyst to help produce rich, in-depth information about transportation, along with and transportation/ infrastructure legislation and regulation. The analyst will join a team of editors, reporters and other analysts to deliver high-quality industry content to customers.

The analyst's primary responsibility will be to assess legislative and regulatory actions for their effect on business and industry, working closely and collaboratively with editors, reporters and other analysts.

The analyst will:

  • Monitor and analyze legislation and regulation for the effect impact on business.
  • Write detailed briefings and studies to explain government action and to follow its consequences through to the level ofindustries and companies. business.
  • Work with reporters, editors and analysts to generate industry and business-specific content.

Qualifications

  • MS or MA in transportation policy, MBA or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • In- depth knowledge of federal legislation, regulation, and the budget process; ability to track federal money to its destination
  • Minimum of five years work experience as an transportation analyst or consultant
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of transportation and transportation infrastructure
  • Strong quantitative skills and superior writing ability to translate in-depth analysis into insightful stories
  • Solid business and economic acumen; a deep understanding of fundamental principles of economics
  • Exceptional statistical skills and an ability to present and explain complex analyses in an intuitive manner
  • Ability to analyze and work with large databases using SAS, STATA, SPLUS or similar statistical package
  • Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills working with a team
  • Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and organizational skills
  • A good communicator, strong collaborator and team player
  • Accustomed to open-door office setting
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
