The Role

Bloomberg has created a new web-based information product that reports on, analyzes and quantifies the impact of government actions on business and industry. It brings the same unparalleled level of fact-based, objective reporting and analysis to policymaking as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

Bloomberg Government is seeking contract copy editors for studies and briefings produced by a staff of economists, financial analysts and industry specialists. The copy editors will have experience with typesetting, designing page layouts and producing publication-ready material. Candidates also will have experience formatting photographs, charts and other visual design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years experience in a real-time news environment
  • Significant experience writing and editing visual content, including for information graphics, photographs and website elements
  • Monitoring work for style, grammar, consistency issues is key
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of HTML and Web content management systems
  • Strong editorial skills and news judgment
  • Washington, D.C., news background is beneficial, but not essential
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment
  • Prior proofreading and editing skills
