Bloomberg is creating an exciting new information product that will report on, analyze, and quantify the impact of government actions on business and industry. This new product will be marketed to government agencies including Congress, Beltway influencers (lobbyists, associations, etc.), and business leaders (C-suite executives, government sales, government affairs, etc.) in the industries that are most impacted by government actions. Bloomberg will bring the same unparalleled level of fact based, objective reporting and analysis to Washington, DC as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

The Role

The Committee Tracking Specialist will monitor developments in U.S. House and Senate committee markups, providing timely updates on amendment texts and vote results, as well as supplying context to help users understand the actions.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of both the legislative process and the rules and procedures of House and Senate committees.

As a member of the data team, the Committee Tracking Specialist will also be responsible for enhancing data processes and workflows, contributing to and supporting the integration of new ideas and functionality, developing spreadsheets and databases, drafting reports and presentations, and performing other ad hoc research/ analytical projects as necessary.
The Committee Tracking Specialist will also work closely with the BGov Editorial team, providing support as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience
  • 1 to 3 years of experience working in or with Congress; ideal candidate will have legislative, lobbying or reporting experience
  • Ability to work quickly and independently with a high degree of accuracy
  • Detailed knowledge of U.S. legislative process and familiarity with legislative language
  • In-depth understanding of rules and procedures of U.S. House and Senate committees
  • Strong communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Experience with web-based content management systems a plus
  • Knowledge of SQL or other database formats a plus
