The Role

Bloomberg News is seeking strategists for its First Word FX service as it expands coverage of FX and rates markets to Canada and Latin America, particularly Brazil and Mexico.

Candidates will have in-depth experience covering Canada and/or Latin American FX and rates markets, with emphasis on Brazil and/or Mexico. Fluency in local languages, as well as written and spoken English, are required, as are deep and broad contacts in the trader and investor community. The individual in this role will be responsible for providing fast and concise stories on FX and sovereign debt market flows and developments to provide perspective on ``what is happening'' and ``what it means,'' both against the backdrop of local developments as well as in the context of global macroeconomic and political trends.

Knowledge of Bloomberg's FX and bond functions and databases is a plus.

All candidates must have the ability and market-specific knowledge to immediately discern actionable information from breaking news, they must have strong writing skills and will be expected to develop new contacts and turn them into sources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years of FX experience
  • Strong work ethic, team player, ability to work calmly in high-pressure environment
