The Role

The Product Owner will acts as the conduit between business stakeholders, project managers and development teams in defining the functional requirements and context of development projects. The individual will represent the interests of stakeholders when making decisions about functional implementations and project scope, and will be ultimately responsible to the business for the success of development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product and solution set assigned and make all important decisions about those products in a way that promotes the company vision and goals.
  • Drive the profitability of the company through product development based on business value.
  • Create, maintain, prioritize and sequence the Product Backlog according to business value or ROI
  • Ensure the Company Product Owner is informed of the backlog priority in order to align this with the company business strategy.
  • Convey the vision and goals at the beginning of every development project and sprint.
  • Understand and communicate the customer requirements by engaging with Sales, Solutions Management, IT-Operations and customers directly.
  • Participate in customer projects.
  • Ensure communication with the rest of the business which informs on development and projects status and initiatives.
  • Inspect the product progress at the end of every sprint and has complete authority to accept or reject the work done.
  • Collaborate with the team and align with the stakeholders throughout the entire release process.
  • Work closely with the QA department to ensure fulfillment of all requirements have been achieved.
  • Participate in Sprint Planning 1 meetings to communicate and respond to all questions about stories presented for consideration in the current sprint.
  • Provide stories for estimation meetings and attend those meetings to provide context for the stories.
  • Provide artefacts from development projects and for all assigned products to ensure all parts of the business have the required documentation for the products produced or maintained.
  • Conduct appropriate business research to fully understand the business requirements of a given desired solution.
  • Convert customer feature requests accurately into stories and ensure clear communication to development the acceptance criteria for the requested features.
  • Demonstrate increasing understanding of the business side of electronic trading, including trading strategies, financial markets and instruments, and industry trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Finance, or related
  • Proven aptitude in business analysis, documentation
  • Project management skills; experience working with cross-functional teams; Scrum project management preferred
  • Strong communication skills; able to build relationship with both technical and business experts
  • Ability to quickly understand complex technical matters and communicate them succinctly
  • A solid understanding of financial markets and electronic trading platforms
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, strong teamwork skills, and ability to work without close supervision
  • Customer oriented, service-minded and well-organized
  • Business proficiency in Mandarin and Cantonese will be very advantageous
  • Able to travel globally on occasion
