The Role:

The R&D Machine Learning group at Bloomberg is looking for experienced software engineers and researchers to join and contribute to a variety of projects at the intersection of machine learning, natural language processing and computational linguistics. Our group develops applications such as sentiment analysis of financial news, market impact indicators, social media analytics, topic clustering and classification, question answering, recommendation systems, risk analysis and predictive models of market behavior. The ideal candidate would have background in mathematics and statistics as well as machine learning and natural language processing and would be able to contribute immediately to the group's projects. The team members play a major role in the design and implementation of some of the most innovative and critical applications in the Bloomberg Terminal.

Qualifications:

• Strong C++ and STL expertise
• Knowledge of Boost or similar libraries a plus
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures)
• Background in natural language processing and/or machine learning
• Mathematical background (probability & statistics) a strong plus
• Industry experience developing multithreaded applications
• Strong communications and interpersonal skills a must
• Knowledge of SQL and standard RDBMSs a plus
