The Role:

Bloomberg Vault is hiring a DevOps Engineer to help us innovate in the way we deploy, test, and develop our industry-leading communications monitoring and analytics software for the financial industry. We are a startup within the Bloomberg Enterprise solving problems in distributed real-time processing, geo-distributed archiving, infrastructure automation, big data and data visualization and our big data platform operates at massive scale. Bloomberg Clustered Private Cloud (BCPC) is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform that is programmed in a variety of languages such as C/C++, Java/Scala & Java. Our infrastructure processes over 250 million messages per day and our archive manages over 80 billion communication objects ranging from e-mail to voice recordings.

To join our quickly growing agile team, the ideal candidate should have:

• A track record managing large deployments, including deep knowledge of security and networking best practices, and a focus on automation and maintainability
• Experience with SQL, Hadoop and environments such as Kafka, Spark, Storm or Accumulo
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Chef
• Knowledge of Docker and managing Docker-based deployments a plus
• Experience with cluster management software like Mesos, Marathon and Aurora, a big plus.
• Experience with deploying and managing AWS clusters.

As a DevOps Engineer you'll help us:

• Make our pre-fabricated BCPC HW work seamlessly and scale elastically
• Automate everything
• Make it easy to run our continuous development and deployment processes
• Monitor, measure and optimize our systems and processes
• Build or implement resource sharing frameworks like Mesos, HDFS, etc.

Your Qualifications as a DevOps Engineer are:

• Minimum 7 years of managing services in an internet scale *nix environment
• Experience with open source projects such as Hadoop, ZooKeeper, and Apache Mesos
• Strong with at least one scripting and/or high level language; C++ a big plus
• B.S. in computer science or similar field
