The Role

Bloomberg is seeking a talented and motivated graphic journalist to create interactive infographics for Bloomberg's web and media platforms. This digital storyteller will work closely with award-winning writers, editors, designers, analysts, and coders on the Bloomberg Graphics team to create multimedia infographics, data-driven visual experiences, interactive maps, and static graphics (http://www.bloomberg.com/graphics).

The interactive graphic journalist participates in all aspects of the graphic-creation process: pitching ideas, collaborating with reporters, conceptualizing and designing, analyzing data sets, storyboarding ideas, writing copy, and coding the experience.

Strong reporting, research, and time-management skills are critical. Our team works in a newsroom and under deadline. Promising candidates will be as comfortable creating data-driven infographics for a breaking news story as they are crafting multimedia experiences for an investigative piece or feature. Whatever the project, a passion for journalism, data, and design is essential, as is a solid understanding of digital tools, trends, and infrastructure.

Collaboration is a hallmark of the team. All members are expected to seek the input of colleagues and view constructive criticism as a way to improve their work.

Technical chops are important. The interactive graphic journalist works closely with the R&D team to collaborate on specific interactives and to evolve our publishing platform and graphic storytelling tools
