The Internal Agency

The Internal Agency operates as a Marketing and Advertising Agency within Bloomberg, responsible for creating communication strategies and design solutions that solve business problems. It reports to the head of Global Brand Management. It is a diverse group of art-directors and specialist designers, collaboratively working on assignments for print, environmental, interactive and broadcast projects.

The Internal Agency has both design and production capabilities. The design function has a strong hands-on approach to design, carrying out initial concept development and using external talent as well as internal support to achieve the best end results. The production function ensures concepts are carried through to execution, working with both our internal resources as well as external vendors to produce materials.

The Internal Agency handles projects for the Central & Business Unit Marketing teams as well as other departments, e.g. Philanthropy, Internal Communications and Bloomberg Space. All departments may also use external design and brand consultancies and agencies to implement projects effectively. The Internal Agency will be measured on results from the campaigns they produce.

Overall Responsibilities:

The Traffic Coordinator/Production Designer is a hybrid role on the Studio Team within the Internal Agency. As a traffic coordinator, this role will act as liaison between Program Managers and the Internal Agency designers. Primary responsibilities include gathering project specifications, ensuring that all requests follow the Agency approval and workflow processes, scheduling work and helping to manage designer workload.

As a production designer, the role¿s responsibilities include producing print and digital deliverables that are based on existing templates or specific art direction. The designer must be able to effectively manage multiple active projects in order to meet tight deadlines and be able to implement client or art directors¿ revisions quickly and accurately. Self-QC must be a factor.

Responsibilities ¿ Traffic

  • Check initial requests for accuracy and gather additional information, if needed
  • Manage client expectations with regard to timelines and deliverables
  • Abide by and advocate for policies and standards consistent with company interests
  • Reinforce the Internal Agency creative process and ensure that Program Managers are adhering to it
  • Create and shares timelines for each project deliverable
  • Schedule internal work sessions as needed on a per-project basis
  • Meet with project management and creative teams to ensure consistency across all media forms
  • Collaborate with creative team regarding project specifications (e.g. colors, dimensions, etc.)
  • Alert clients and Project Management if deadlines cannot be met
  • Track jobs through the Production team
  • Attend weekly status meetings and schedules traffic/production meetings as needed
  • Route jobs for internal approvals

Responsibilities ¿ Production Design

  • Typeset copy using existing sales collateral templates, ensuring type standards are being followed in accordance with the corporate style guide
  • Typeset static digital banners using existing templates
  • Update Flash files with new copy/images using existing templates
  • Design and typeset signage and other event materials using existing templates
  • Resize existing print ads according to client specifications
  • Traffic artwork to publications
  • Ensure all work follows the agency quality control processes

Education/Experience

  • Proven experience in production and traffic or project management in an advertising, marketing, or PR agency environment
  • BA/BS degree required. Candidates with a degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Digital Media Design, Visual, Fine or Commercial Arts, Art Design or related field preferred

Skills

  • Understanding of print and collateral design, interactive communications and production delivery processes required
  • Must be able to take interpret, understand and execute on direction well
  • Good time- and project-management skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Computer proficient in both PC and Mac platforms
  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe CS5+ InDesign, Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator; other CS products a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office including Word and Excel, PowerPoint design experience a plus
