At Bloomberg, our products are fueled by powerful information. We provide portfolio managers with real time information on companies’ financial performance to assist in profitability analysis & assess the risk and return of their investment. Buy-side & sell-side equity analysts use our data to create valuation models to provide stock recommendations and target prices and assess the viability of investing in a company.  

Join us for our 2022 Spring Financial Research Data Analyst Externship program and immerse yourself in all things Bloomberg. Over the course of three days, you’ll have an opportunity to gain exposure to Bloomberg’s Equity Research data and products, covering everything from financial instruments to Terminal functionality. You’ll gain access to Bloomberg leadership, professional and technical development training, and priority access to our 2023 Summer Internship programs within our Financial Research Data Analyst Team.   

As part of the Financial Research Data Analyst Externship program, you’ll have the opportunity to: 

  • Receive exposure to our transparent culture, open environment, and Bloomberg Data & Bloomberg Intelligence business functions 
  • Develop your market sector knowledge and learn from industry experts 
  • Participate in a case study related to the financial markets utilizing excel and the Bloomberg Terminal
  • Engage with our Bloomberg Corporate Philanthropy and learn more about why we work on purpose 
  • Enhance your leadership skills and interpersonal skills through networking events and professional development activities 

At the end of your Bloomberg Externship, you will have expanded your professional network, deepened your understanding of the financial markets, developed your technical skills, learned professional skills and interview techniques, and gained the opportunity to secure a 2023 Summer Internship.

Who can apply? 

  • Be working towards a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university 
  • Graduate between December 2023 or June 2024 
  • Be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future 
  • Be available to attend for the duration of the program in New York office from May 23-25
  • Self-identify as Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American and/or first-generation college student

What do we look for?

  • Demonstrated project, work experience, or coursework that shows your interest and knowledge in the financial markets 
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Excel, VBA is a plus 
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and interpreting financial statements 
  • Extracurricular activities in addition to coursework 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Aptitude for problem-solving, plus the commitment to think creatively 
  • Demonstrated interest or project/work experience using one or more programming language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, SQL, etc.)
