Who are we?

The Bloomberg Terminal platform hosts over 10,000 unique applications that underpin the global financial markets. 4000 engineers at Bloomberg create application UI software for it. The output of their efforts are JavaScript and TypeScript files which must be delivered to the backend and to the client - reliably and quickly! They also need flexibility to target precise audiences for safe and reliable rollouts. The Terminal Deployment Infrastructure team is managing all of that code - more than a million different components.

Anytime a customer starts a new application our services are called to determine the appropriate version, retrieve the JS/TS script, and deliver it to the right place in the datacenter or on the client’s machine. These systems are critical: without the applications running within The Terminal, it is dead in the water. Our critical focus is on the end-user experience, stability and appropriate work-load management of our backend systems.

We use a number of technologies, most of them open source: C++, Javascript/Typescript, Node.js, Python, SQL, Humio, Nginx, Kafka, etc. We emphasize best practices, including extensive CI/CD with alarms and dashboards so all team members can confidently make changes to critical infrastructure.

Who are you?

We are looking for a highly collaborative and curious individual who likes to dive in and solve problems. If you describe yourself as self-starting, someone who takes ownership of the task, is goal-oriented and challenges the status quo, you’ll fit right in!

We’ll trust you to:

• Develop code and tests with a constant focus on correctness, performance and reliability
• Work with our SRE team to improve the operational environment and make it more reliable
• Stay up to date with industry trends and implement best practices within the team and its code-bases

You’ll need to have


• 3+ years experience working with C++ or similar object oriented language (i.e. Java/C#)
• 3 years experience building software for UNIX or Linux Operating systems
• Expertise with data structures and algorithms
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Salary Range: 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
