Who we are:

The Bloomberg CTO Office is the future-looking technical arm of Bloomberg L.P. We envision, design and prototype the next generation infrastructure, hardware and products that interface in all aspects of the company including financial products, broadcast and media, data centers, internal IT, and our global network. We are passionate about what we do.

What’s in it for you:

Alternative data is one of the highest priority initiatives at Bloomberg. We believe that alternative data will become a core part of all investment research workflows and Bloomberg will play a central role in this transformation. A key part of our efforts will be centered around enabling internal and external stakeholders to understand the nuances of data and how different alternative datasets can be used to measure company performance with high degrees of effectiveness.

We are looking for an experienced data analyst to work on our client-facing team at Bloomberg. You’ll partner with our revenue team to help clients uncover insights about companies, industries, and the broader economy through fundamental research and applying data science techniques to alternative data sets.

Internally, you’ll help our product, data science, and engineering teams understand our clients workflows to develop client empathy and improve our product.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Work directly with clients to help interpret alternative data driven signals and apply alternative data to existing investment research workflows
  • Create insights that synthesize research findings for internal and external use by our team and clients
  • Work cross-functionally with our sales, account management, marketing, and product teams to help us iterate our alternative data products

You’ll need to have:

  • Prior experience in equity/investment/scientific research and leveraging alternative data analysis and interpretation as part of the fundamental research process
  • Experience working directly with clients and an understanding of equity research workflows
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A deep interest in how companies, industries and sectors operate and function
  • Basic proficiency with Python and SQL to do exploratory data analysis
  • A collaborative mindset and a willingness to work with internal teams across the organization

We’d love to see:

  • Experience in applying transaction data to company research in traditional and creative ways.
  • Experience or exposure to other alternative data sets and how they can be applied to the equity research process
