The Role:

We are looking for a new member to join our team to support the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) Secretariat.
GFANZ is a coalition of leading financial institutions committed to accelerating the decarbonisation of the global economy in line with governments’ commitments under the Paris Agreement. GFANZ was established in 2021 as a forum for addressing sector-wide challenges associated with the net-zero transition, helping to ensure high levels of ambition are met with credible action. Members – numbering over 550 financial institutions from 50 jurisdictions – have committed to the goal of net zero by 2050, in line with science-based pathways to limit warming to 1.5 degrees C. Learn more about GFANZ at www.gfanzero.com.

GFANZ has a multifaceted programme aimed at mainstreaming net zero transition planning and mobilising capital to emerging markets and developing economies. In this role, you will support scoping and planning of various work efforts, keep the team on task by tracking relevant activities, and will lead and complete critical research, operational, briefing, scheduling, and writing efforts that support the growth and success of GFANZ and its efforts to help accelerate the decarbonisation of the global economy. You’ll support one or more of our core areas of work: net-zero transition planning, capital mobilisation, public policy, or our central Secretariat operations.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Work with leaders across the Secretariat to develop work plans and keep the team on task by tracking relevant activities, goals, deadlines, and breakthroughs
  • Manage key dependencies across other areas of the organization
  • Identify and appropriately escalate delivery risks and issues so that corrective actions can be taken in a timely manner
  • Liaise between the Secretariat and key support functions including on legal review, marketing initiatives, and major convenings as required
  • Develop briefing materials to be used in bilateral meetings, roundtables, and other commitments, including talking point development, background research, and deep dives on relevant technical areas
  • Build content for external facing materials such as presentation slides, memos, and other documentation that delivers on the work of GFANZ
  • Support and lead high-priority “special projects” for the Secretariat, including related to major research need, analytical needs, and partner coordination needs
  • Support scheduling, logistics, and meeting readouts for the convening of stakeholders across our working groups and work streams for the projects you lead

You’ll need to have:

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience working in finance, consulting, public policy, or climate
  • *Please note we use years of experience as a guide but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.

  • Strong collaborator who understands the complexity of working with multiple audiences and navigating their diverse interests and goals
  • Exceptional time management and process management skills including ability to draft, socialise, and update on detailed work plans and milestones
  • Excellent organisational abilities and can handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Strong writing and editing skills, particularly related to memos and PowerPoints
  • Strong critical thinker
  • Proactive problem solver
