Bloomberg runs on data, and data drives the market. Our Data team acquires and supplies this data to our clients. Teams work collaboratively to collect, analyze, process and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal - the data ultimately feeding and moving the financial markets. 
 

The Role: 

 

As a Commodities Data Analyst you will manage the financial data that feeds into the Bloomberg products. You will use your data management & problem solving skills to maintain the workflow of extracting, transforming and loading of timely, accurate and comprehensive data across various Bloomberg platforms. You will identify innovative workflow efficiencies, implement technical solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes, and establish links with key players in the financial market.
 
Our Data Analysts possess a unique combination of business & financial market aptitude, strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with various stakeholders, as well as interest in technology (or data management related tools). You will play a key role in empowering our clients to make well informed business decisions. Providing exceptional support assisting our clients with their data queries is a key part of the role. 

In addition, you will need to develop a strong knowledge of our core workflows and market coverage for both commodity pricing and fundamentals data. You will also be involved in our data modelling efforts, expanding our commodities taxonomy model and improving the discoverability of our content. This is a great opportunity for someone that wants to combine commodity subject-matter-expertise and technical skills to generate premium content for our terminal users. 
 

We’ll trust you to: 

• Use a variety of software solutions to extract and rationalize data  
• Provide timely and in-depth customer support for users of the Bloomberg Terminal and our associated Enterprise Products   
• Design and manage workflow configurations for critical functions such as acquisition, worklist management, and quality control 
• Monitor financial market developments to build subject matter expertise and data analytical capabilities that generate premium content, including data-driven news stories 
• Lead ad hoc projects to optimize processes and/or improve the quality of the data set          
• Contribute to continuous improvement by generating ideas to improve our data products and/or associated processes and building prototypes to validate and illustrate requirements  
• Partner with a wide variety of stakeholders from Engineering to Sales on product development   

 

You’ll need to have: 

• Knowledge of commodity markets (energy, metals & minerals, emissions or agriculture) 
• At least a Bachelor’s degree in, preferably in Energy Economics or Finance, or related business  
• A passion for data, technology and finance with the aspiration to work in the financial/fintech services industry   
• Previous work, internship and/or academic experience in data analysis, financial market research and/or information technology 
• Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks accordingly 

We’d love to see: 

• Experience in customer service or client relationship management within the financial industry 
• Previous work experience with the Bloomberg Terminal, or Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) certification 
• Interest in or experience in data analytics tools 
• Experience in semantic structures to model the commodities domain  
• Knowledge of SQL/python querying language
