The Role
Bloomberg News seeks a reporter to cover soft commodities, including coffee, sugar, cotton, cocoa and orange juice, in its New York office. Successful applicants should have at least three years' of business reporting and writing experience. A background in commodities is preferred. The applicant should be accustomed to producing clear and comprehensive in-depth enterprise pieces, have a record of breaking important stories, and be accustomed to writing spot stories under deadline pressure. Familiarity with the Bloomberg Terminal is a plus.
The reporter will be expected to develop enterprise story ideas, executing them through interviews, document research, and logical, concise writing. A successful candidate should have the personality to develop sources that lead to exclusive stories, a thorough understanding of how financial markets operate, and a commitment to speed and accuracy to cover breaking news.
***Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience working in a real-time news environment
- Experience covering commodities
- Knowledge of the economy, markets, business
- Three years of reporting experience
