Bloomberg is creating a new web-based information product that will report on, analyze and quantify the impact of government actions on business and industry. It will bring the same unparalleled level of fact-based, objective reporting and analysis to policymaking as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

The Role

Bloomberg is seeking a senior financial analyst to help produce rich, in-depth content for this online product analyzing the implications of government actions for business and industry. The senior financial analyst will join an industry-focused team of editors, reporters, and other analysts to deliver high-quality content to customers. This role's primary responsibility will be to assess the financial impacts of government actions on business and industry, produce original content, working closely and collaboratively with editors, reporters and other analysts. The senior financial analyst will:

  • Research and analyze financial impacts of governmental actions at the industry and company-level;
  • Gather quantitative data and build high-level budget and financial analysis to assess the impact of potential outcomes;
  • Analyze and present revenue, expense, tax, and other complex financial implications of legislative and regulatory changes within an industry group;
  • Produce original, insightful reports on industry-changing legislative and regulatory decisions based on company SEC filings, sector knowledge, industry trends, and government agency publications;
  • Translate analytic findings into deliverables that are accessible to technical and lay audiences and speak to both the business/financial findings as well as the policy implications of the analytic work;
  • Work with reporters and editors to generate industry and business-specific content;
  • Collaborate with other financial and economic analysts

Qualifications

  • BA in accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent work experience; MBA or CFA is a plus
  • Minimum of five years experience as a financial or business analyst in management consulting or at a firm within the relevant sector, extensive knowledge of financial accounting, budget and benchmarking analysis, and working knowledge of capital markets instruments;
  • Experience in healthcare is required, combined experience in public and private healthcare sector a major plus;
  • Strong quantitative skills and superior writing ability to translate in-depth analysis into insightful stories;
  • Solid business and financial acumen; a deep understanding of fundamental principles of economics and finance
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills and an ability to present and explain complex scenario analysis in an intuitive manner
  • Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills working with a team
  • Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
  • Should feel comfortable appearing on-air to discuss healthcare issues
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and organizational skills
  • A good communicator, strong collaborator and team player
  • Accustomed to open-door office setting
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
