The Financial Products group is responsible for all Bloomberg financial products, data services, enterprise solutions and trading systems. This is a high visibility position with extensive access and interaction with executive management. Flawless execution in tandem with critical and creative thinking are required attributes for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Financial Products Business Development Manager will:

Evaluate new business opportunities (e.g., internally developed products, e.g. incubations, acquisitions, and partnerships):

  • Determine strategic fit with business objectives and market dynamics
  • Develop options to fast track market entry, including partnerships and acquisitions
  • Develop value propositions, pricing strategies, service models and business plans to support both organic and inorganic business opportunities
  • Extensive interaction with clients to understand workflow, use cases, product demand and overall market appetite as part of the product development process
  • Assess range of competitive responses, deal structures and impact on opportunity
  • Structure detailed financial models to estimate potential value of opportunities (e.g., market assessment, sizing & forecasts, DCFs, comparables, long term P&L/ROI analyses, cash-flow analyses etc).
  • Create metrics to evaluate performance of targets
  • Develop perspective on ¿go/no go¿ decision
  • Present cases for investment both within the firm and with prospective partners

Work closely with business leaders to articulate how proposed transactions / partnerships align with business strategies and accelerate organic business roadmaps

  • Help manage the flow of opportunities presented to Bloomberg and developed by business leaders
  • Evaluate build/buy/partner/invest scenarios and help articulate business rationale
  • Discuss and propose strategic alternatives
  • Negotiate with external parties when relevant

Support the execution of priority initiatives with cross-business unit teams:

  • Organic business plan development and forecasting where relevant
  • Strategic planning and coordination across multiple stakeholders and business units, from inception to funding and execution phases
  • Due diligence, deal execution, and business integration
  • Create presentations for senior business unit leadership

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Undergraduate degree from a top-tier school, ideally in business

  • MBA in finance from top tier program preferred

Experience

  • At least 10 years of professional work experience ideally from a top tier management consulting firm and/or investment bank or private equity firm, at least 3-4 years post MBA. Strong foundation in business strategy required.
  • Strong knowledge of business strategy, strategic and business planning, product development, and general business operations.
  • Demonstrable ability to quickly become proficient in new areas of expertise and add value at the senior/executive management level
  • Experience with business model assessments, product portfolio pruning, business optimization, turn arounds, and strategic re-alignments.
  • Experience as a strategic investor and/or within corporate business development also highly desirable.
  • High degree of comfort with company valuation and M&A processes.
  • Demonstrated experience completing transactions with strategic investors (either buy or sell side).
  • Experience analyzing deal structure, completing valuations, articulating business strategy and positioning with market dynamics.
  • Previous experience in technology required as most areas of interest have a strong technology component to business operations.
  • Experience in institutional financial services required, as well as familiarity with financial data business models.
  • Emphasis on institutional bank operations and market data highly desirable.
