R&D News owns many of the most high profile and highly hit functions on the Bloomberg terminal. We are looking for two intermediate to senior developers who will work on mission critical functions used by the 3,000 strong Bloomberg News organization for the timely production of accurate, market moving News, a system where 100% availability 24/7 is the expectation and the norm.

A typical project involves development of fast multithreaded applications, which typically consist of user-facing Bloomberg functions, C++ services running on Unix and an Oracle database layer. As a member of the R&D News Team you will take ownership for projects you work on, and be responsible for the complete development life cycle from inception to rollout and maintenance.

Requirements

¿ In your previous roles you will have shown strong capabilities in C++, including data structures, algorithms and multithreading.
¿ You will be comfortable designing client facing functionality, as well as implementing backend software.
¿ A working knowledge of Unix (Solaris/AIX/HP-UX) is essential.
¿ A good level of expertise in a relational database package is required.
¿ Good communication skills are essential as you will be working closely with our Business counterparts around the world to determine the future shape of our product.
