The Role:

Bloomberg is looking for a Senior Software Developer to join their Foundational Services/Search Solutions team. This is a new team that is focused to deliver a standard Bloomberg Search Engine platform for search related activities that can be leveraged by a variety of Bloomberg Applications. The vision is to build and support a core search engine that can be targeted and customized towards different Verticals of application needs for domain-specific searches.

We are looking for individuals with experience in Solr & Lucene to design and build the core Bloomberg Search Platform. The candidate must be able to work independently, research and investigate solutions and recommend alternatives when faced with challenging situations. Candidates must have a passion for technology and a flexible, creative approach to problem solving. They should be able to take ownership of the product and develop solutions that meet our application needs. The successful candidate will have a solid track record developing large scale distributed indexing and search systems.

Qualifications :

• 3+ years experience in software development
• Expert in Solr & Lucene
• Very strong knowledge in Java
• Experience with building large-scale distributed indexing & search systems.
• Excellent problem solving and multi-tasking skills, with a creative and flexible attitude
• Project management and leadership experience is a plus.
