The Role:

Bloomberg will shortly be launching a radio station in San Francisco with a content focus for and from the tech and business community. We are searching for a local Sales Manager to spearhead this exciting initiative. This Sales Manager will serve as a "player/coach". The successful candidate will have existing media ad sales management experience or aspire to sales management, and have strong client relationships in the Bay area and west coast. In addition, the Sales Manager must be well versed in the local agency landscape, as well as the powerful audience of tech and finance decision-makers.

This Sales Manager will develop business as well as "roll up sleeves" and lead a small team. The Sales Manager and team will work with Bay area and west coast clients across all aspects of the sales process, but a particular focus on developing new accounts for the station at the client level. Key verticals will include: technology, financial, luxury, auto and small business.

We are looking for a strong leader with great presentation, leadership and organizational skills. The successful candidate will embrace the startup nature of a radio station launch, and will work well in an innovation focused organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and grow a list of core Bloomberg Radio accounts
  • Continuous prospecting and presentations with senior executives at both clients and advertising agencies
  • Pitching to agencies, planning and account teams
  • Providing weekly updates on the number of prospects, new business meetings and pending sales
  • Co-ordination with Bloomberg's other media properties
  • Execution and follow up


  • 5+ years of recent and relevant media sales experience, ideally with a radio background.
  • Strong client relationships in the Bay area and west coast.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with the local agency and audience landscape.
  • Strong track record of new business development
  • Successful track record & experience working directly with senior marketing executives at the client level, and preferably major ad agencies as well.
  • Strong computer skills are necessary, particularly proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel & Salesforce.
  • Ability to succeed in a business environment with "startup initiative" qualities
