The Role

Bloomberg Digital is seeking a Social and Engagement Editor who will oversee the daily management of Bloomberg's social and mobile activity in the Middle East region. Although an editorial position, the right candidate will understand the strategic and commercial importance of a well-executed social strategy and be able to advise global social management on regional best practice.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead responsibility for social media channels used by Bloomberg.com in the Middle East, with the aim of growing our brand in the region through user engagement and social traffic.
• Execute the global vision for social and mobile within the region, applying local knowledge of messaging apps, social platforms and consumer expectation
• Work with the Digital News Editors to amplify breaking news stubs and articles on social and mobile platforms
• Work with Dubai-based Social Velocity colleagues to ensure social content from the Middle East informs and augments online news stories
• Take primary responsibility for using analytics, both real-time and period reporting, to inform social decisions and evaluate progress in the region
• Exploit best practice for using visual components on social channels
• Feed back regional observations and best practice into conversations with global social management

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an editor or social media editor, preferably in a busy digital news environment
• Strong editorial judgment
• Experience in business and financial news preferred
• Demonstrated track record of driving social and audience development through social networks
• Ability to work in a team environment and across management
• A rich understanding of the social media landscape and mobile messaging platforms most popular in the region is very important
