Who you are:

You are a communications professional who can work independently at a senior level to drive strategic external communications plans for Bloomberg's core product ("the Terminal"). In this position, you will maintain a close working relationship with product and marketing peers and ensure brand and messaging continuity across Bloomberg's Financial Product business.

You really understand the working of the global financial marketplace, specifically trading and investment in fixed income, equities, foreign exchange, futures, options and/or structured products. you are familiar with the needs and challenges of financial industry sectors including wholesale banking, asset management, private funds, corporate finance and others. Familiarity with media, channels, and influencers active in these sectors is essential.

What you'll do:

You will be responsible for helping enhance the reputation of the Bloomberg Professional service ("the Terminal"), the most powerful and innovative platform for financial real-time data, news, and analytics. You will promote and protect Bloomberg's image as a provider of market-leading financial information and technology solutions through strategic and effective external communications.

We'll trust you to:

¿ Build and execute integrated external and internal communications strategies, programs, and actions that help enable sales and drive revenue
¿ Provide counsel to senior management to build and burnish the perception of the Terminal with entrenched financial information audiences as well as emerging audiences
¿ Collaborate with product managers, sales and marketing teams across the Terminal business to shape and articulate Bloomberg's commitment to innovation, momentum and its clients
¿ Support communications leadership in developing and executing media relations strategies including building and maintaining relationships with print, electronic and broadcast media in business, finance, technology and general news arenas.
¿ Handle all reactive and outreach media relations. Assume responsibility for the development and execution of the Terminal global media relations program and oversee agency resources to assist in execution
¿ Serve as spokesperson. Build and maintain tight-knit relationships with relevant mainstream and trade media and business press. Develop and maintain awareness of editorial calendars and reporter interests to actively place stories and anticipate emerging opportunities
¿ Package and promote strategic coverage about Bloomberg to non-media influencers; Identify, assess and prioritize industry influencers and develop and execute engagement strategies to inspire influencer awareness and advocacy
¿ Develop, implement and maintain appropriate metrics to evaluate impact and effectiveness of external communications

You should have:

¿ A Bachelor's degree along with at least 10 years of experience in developing and implementing media relations for business/financial, trade, and technology media
¿ The ability to provide timely, appropriate and accurate counsel to senior executives and use business leaders to address issues and capitalize on opportunities
¿ A deep understanding of the financial services industry and market participants; knowledge of the equities, fixed income, and foreign exchange and commodities markets is critical
¿ Excellent verbal and written communications skills with internal and external audiences
¿ The ability to translate industry issues and opportunities into messaging that resonates with target audiences
¿ Experience implementing integrated communications strategies, including thought-leadership content development and influencer, analyst or investor relations
