You're a strong reporter who enjoys covering data releases and writing enterprise stories highlighting the most compelling themes influencing the US Economy ( the world's largest!). You're able to quickly interpret data and turn findings into easy to understand prose. You're able to learn new concepts easily and have the ability to develop sources and make contacts. You're eager to help when needed and embrace an all-hands-on-deck approach. You're creative and enjoy pitching story ideas. You're the perfect person to join our economy team.

We'll trust you to:

• Write stories on wide-ranging topics- from unemployment and inflation to GDP and the housing market
• Attend data briefings at government agencies and then convert those numbers into pithy stories that will gain the public's interest
• Pitch stories on topics of interest to give readers a richer understanding of the inner workings on the economy
• Chart and visually display data to help your stories stand out
• Discuss every aspect of the economic outlook and publish features that bring to life the most important themes or trends
• Work under tight deadlines and collaborate with a team of dedicated reporters on breaking news and influencing decision makers

You'll need to have:

• An aptitude with words and numbers
• The ability to turn complex data into a narrative accessible to market professionals and casual readers
• Knowledge of digital platforms and an ability to develop graphics ( a plus!)
• 3+ years of business journalism experience
