In Bloomberg's Global Data division, data drives our decision making. Our Business Intelligence (BI) team makes this possible by turning disparate data sets into actionable insights. Data speaks to us and we share these insights to business and product managers through creative and intuitive visualizations that help monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement across the organization.

We need a talented individual that possesses a unique combination of business acumen and technical skills, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to collaborate with stakeholders to define reporting requirements, partner with BI Developers to design and implement solutions, and analyze data to identify organizational improvements. You will be able to infer trends from a variety of data sources, confidently communicate their interpretation, and make actionable recommendations for business managers.

As a BI Analyst, you will also have the opportunity to join forces with colleagues in Technical Operations and R&D to design technical solutions that address opportunities identified during your analysis. As a result, you'll have the ability to directly impact our operations and drive change.

We'll trust you to:

  • Work closely with stakeholders and their teams to understand their information needs and translate them into requirements for developers
  • Build prototypes to illustrate and refine requirements
  • Partner with stakeholders to design insightful analytics and key performance indicators that help more efficiently manage their business
  • Plan and execute projects to expand the scope of our enterprise reporting platform and increase its value for our stakeholders
  • Conduct analysis that leads to actionable recommendations for business managers
  • Customize business intelligence reports to meet the ad hoc needs of clients
  • Effectively communicate project progress and success to stakeholders in compelling, creative, and accessible ways
  • Provide training and guidance to team members and partners
  • Triage and resolve support tickets for clients in a timely, efficient manner

You'll need to have:

  • Undergraduate degree in business or technology, minor in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred
  • Ideally, at least 2 - 5 years of proven professional experience in the business intelligence arena
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
  • Exposure to object oriented programming, Python preferred
  • Working knowledge of data mining, data modeling, data visualization, and ETL preferred
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools, Qlikview preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of demonstrated decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in constantly changing and often stressful environment
  • Demonstrated ability to construct professional looking reports and presentations
  • Ability to build partnerships across an organization and interface and facilitate interactions with engineering and business counterparts
  • Experience working in an Agile development team, using JIRA preferred
