The Bloomberg CTO Office is the future forward technical arm of Bloomberg L.P. We envision, design and prototype the next generation infrastructure, hardware and applications that interface in all aspects of the company including financial products, broadcast and media, data centers, internal IT and a global network. We are passionate about what we do.

We are looking for a hardware security architect experienced in designing secure and robust consumer electronics. In this role, you'll leverage your passion and design skills to bring a product from concept to mass production, and help us set the vision of Bloomberg's Secure access technology products. This is a unique opportunity to influence one of the most ubiquitous products in the financial marketplace.

What's in it for you:

As our embedded security architect, you'll focus on critical aspects necessary to bring Bloomberg's services to hundreds of thousands of customers every day. Working with multiple internal teams and external partners, you'll design, develop, and improve Bloomberg's customer-facing and internal security devices while pushing the envelope of low power usage, high performance, usability, and flexibility.

You'll have opportunities to demonstrate your creative problem-solving, communication stills, and passion daily. You'll be a part of our team, which has proven success achieving aggressive deadlines through consensus building, teamwork, and leadership.

Our CTO office is home to some of the world's leading technologists and innovators. This is your chance to learn and collaborate with the best. We can't wait to see you jump into projects, share your ideas, and take ownership of products from end to end.

We'll trust you to:

Take a leadership role in defining the architecture and development across multiple products, working in parallel with several engineers and business sponsors
Help build out our technical product road map
Identify security vulnerabilities and guiding developers and engineers in addressing these issues (both hardware and software)
Provide requirements and insight to internal development teams and external vendors
Foster a culture of security consciousness across various teams

You'll need to have:

5+ years experience with designing and improving embedded systems (hardware and software)
5+ years experience designing, developing and supporting consumer embedded device(s)

We'd love to see:

A strong UNIX background - bonus points if you know how to build your own cross compiling toolchain
Experience with Cadence Allegro for schematic capture, review and ideally board layout
Some ARM and x86 assembly experience, and good judgement when to dive to assembly language code versus a high level language
Practical knowledge of basic device interfaces (USB, SPI, I2C, etc.)
Demonstrated development experience on x86 and ARM or MIPS platforms
Practical experience with cryptography and key management, as well as understanding threats facing embedded device security
Knowledge of board-level bring-up on ARM, X86 or MIPS platforms
Prior experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), building board-support packages
