Teamwork is important to you, and you are excited by the prospect of collaborating with colleagues of a wide range of backgrounds in delivering Climatescope 2018.

You should have the availability to join for 6 months from the beginning of July 2018.

Our team:

You will be based in our new London office, working as part of a global research team at Bloomberg NEF (BNEF) – the world's leading independent provider of analysis, tools, data and research to decision makers leading change in the energy system. Our data-driven research helps clients stay on top of developments across the energy sector, supported by the unique depth and breadth of the Bloomberg Terminal and bnef.com platforms.

You will join as an intern, researching the energy transition in a selection of emerging markets in the Europe, Middle-East and North Africa region.

The research will cover a broad range of qualitative and quantitative indicators from the policy mechanisms put in place by government to support renewables deployment, to the economic and operational conditions that make a market attractive to investors. Together these indicators will allow you to acquire a thorough understanding of each market which you will summarise in country overviews.

As part of your work with the Climatescope team, you will also contribute in bringing together research on over 100 emerging markets produced by analysts in 2018 to deliver the various products and analysis planned for this year’s release at the BNEF New Energy Summit in Shanghai (November 2018)

We will trust you to:

  • Become an expert on the dynamics that drive the energy transition across emerging markets and in particular in your focus countries
  • Research, analyse and write about the latest developments in your focus countries, including policy developments, economic trends, clean energy deployment, analysis of the power sector and its key player, and other relevant topics
  • Produce research templates, policy records and country overviews for your focus markets in English
  • Explain interesting trends on your research to your colleagues and clients via email, telephone and in-person meetings

You’ll need to have:

  • Intellectual curiosity, interest in and enthusiasm for the energy transition; a desire to become an expert on the particular challenges and opportunities of operating in the clean energy sector in emerging markets
  • Good research and communication skills: research quantitative and qualitative data, sense of prioritization, good writing skills
  • Fluency in English and one of French (preferred), Arabic or Spanish
  • Good time management skills, initiative and ability to work on multiple tasks at once
  • Degree in energy related field with a particular focus on energy sector policy and regulation
  • Ability to think critically and develop thoughtful opinions by cutting through the noise of data, finding key patterns, applying judgment to the claims of energy sector stakeholders and asking insightful questions
  • Ability to distill and communicate complex topics to non-specialist audiences

We’d love to see:

  • Candidates with previous experience in relevant areas, such as organisations formulating or analysing energy policy, or focusing on energy sector trends in emerging markets
  • A graduate degree in subjects related to the energy transition
