The Bloomberg CTO Office is the future forward technical arm of Bloomberg L.P. We envision, design and prototype next generation infrastructure, hardware and applications that interface in all aspects of the company including financial products, broadcast and media, datacenters, internal IT and a global network. The CTO Security Architecture Team works alongside colleagues, customers, vendors and the industry to drive security, standards and other technical needs that will help Bloomberg now and in the future.

Working with teams across so many diverse and varied fields requires the brightest scientists and engineers with broad technical skillsets, but also the ability to communicate with business leaders, sophisticated customers and technical experts daily to drive our vision forward.

What's in it for you:

As a member of the CTO Infrastructure Security Architecture team, you will be working with teams to drive security into all parts of our infrastructure. Your focus will always be to provide the highest level of security for our products and teams, but not slowing down development. You will work on all aspects of security from design to implementation, from process to policy, from individuals to whole departments. This will require a wide ranging skillset and the ability to work with teams and individuals from all over the firm every day.

We'll trust you to:

• Take a leadership role in technologies, workgroups and teams across Bloomberg
• Review and onboard new technologies, ideas and processes that will prepare Bloomberg for the next 5 years
• Identify and mentor the next generation of leadership throughout Bloomberg
• Advise, teach and evangelizes different technologies across Bloomberg and it’s 20,000 employees

You’ll need to have:

• Demonstrated leadership in all aspects of computer security
• 5+ years of experience maintaining, building and auditing a large scale security infrastructure
• A deep understanding of the Internet and networking protocols
• 3+ years of programming experience in one of the following languages: C/C++, Java, Python
• Prior experience with HTTP/HTTPS proxies
• Network analytics tools and protocols: netflow, opsec, syslog, ipfix, etc
• A track record of building collaborative relationships with stakeholders across many functions
• Experience working with highly-available, large-scale distributed applications
• Strong understanding of Virtualization and OS principles
• Some experience with data science and statistics

We'd love to see:

• An understanding of Firewalls and different implementations from Palo Alto Networks, Checkpoint, Juniper and Foritnet
• Network routing and virtualization technologies: BGP, ISIS, GRE, MPLS, VXLAN, IPSEC, etc
• An understanding of the software development lifecycle, as well as tools such as Git, RPM or DPKG, Chef or Ansible
• Working knowledge of Kafka, Spark, Storm, Hadoop, and other data engineering tools
