Bloomberg runs on data, and in the Global Data team we're responsible for acquiring it and providing it to our clients. We collect, analyze, process and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal- the facts and figures which ultimately move the financial markets. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes- and all this while providing platinum customer support to our clients.

The Portfolios team in Global Data is responsible for the data management of Mutual Funds and ETF portfolio holdings, as well as public portfolios such as government investment pools, Collateralized Loan Obligation and etc. As a result, the group maintains relationships with market participants to directly source unique, value-added content while leveraging technology to acquire and process publicly available information. Overall, this aggregated, cleansed, and normalized data fuels functions like {HLDR}, {PORT}, supports News, and enables our clients to follow the money flows.

What’s the role?

The Portfolios team is looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for client engagement, research and technology. The team is responsible for procuring, managing and analyzing data for our holdings product, which provides information to the market with point-in-time updates.

You will be responsible for researching new data sets to expand the coverage of our product, building database schema and configure ETL software to on-board new data sets, designing and analyzing internal processes to identify opportunities for improve efficiency and perform quality control. You’ll need to combine of subject-matter-expertise and technical skills to generate premium content such as data-driven news stories and provide customer support for users of Bloomberg products such as the Professional Service, News and Enterprise Solutions by resolving inquiries in a timely manner.

We need you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with combined studies in Information Systems and Finance or related business and STEM field
  • At least two years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills and experience in building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of data processing paradigms and associated tools and technologies in Global Data’s technology stack
  • Applied proficiency with one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python, R, JavaScript, Java) as well as SQL
  • Effective research skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge on the Funds and Holdings industry
  • Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States and will not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
