Senior Software Engineer - Fixed Income Trading

Our team is part of the Fixed Income Shared Services group. We provide the systems and critical interfaces for determining trading enablements, buy-side and sell-side compliance and client on-boarding. We own a number of client facing applications that are used by our clients to manage and maintain their enablements set-up. Our services receive in excess of 150m hits a day as part of the trade ticketing and RFQ activity. At the other end of the trading workflow, we are also responsible for the functionality that ensures Bloomberg is meeting its regulatory trading obligations imposed by the various regulatory bodies around the world.

How do we work?

We are a full stack development team. We work very closely with product managers and trade ticketing teams to ensure we are providing the APIs and behaviour to allow trading to perform smoothly. We also collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams across London and New York to specify, develop and deliver the appropriate control functionality. We are also responsible for the integration and deployment of a third party Surveillance tool that is used by Compliance globally to monitor trading activity.

What we are looking for:

An experienced C++ developer who enjoys improving and maintaining critical functions and APIs. You are eager to understand the Fixed Income trading workflow and how our systems influence and integrate within the overall trade process. You are passionate about accuracy and correctness of how Bloomberg operates as a trading function. You will look at how data flows through our systems and layers within Fixed Income and understand how we can provide appropriate control processes to identify failures during that flow.

You understand how to design reliable and large-scale systems. You care about the quality of the code base and demonstrate the experience to know how to apply unit testing, integration testing and stress testing to produce reliable production software. You are also pragmatic and able to balance technology demands with business requirements!

We will trust you to:

-    Work closely with wider Electronic Trading Team to ensure that our services are correct, accurate, performant and fit for purpose
-    Liaise with business managers to understand requirements and customer expectations and deliver the product features within realistic timelines
-    Plan, manage and provide ownership of production releases

We'd love to see:

-    Experience with multithreading
-    Familiarity with SQL, Python and JavaScript
-    Experience with high volume, high availability distributed systems
-    An interest in the financial markets
