The Role:

Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) is seeking a talented, highly-motivated intern to join our research team in Beijing for a 10 week paid internship.
During this time you will be given a series of projects to execute related to various areas of the energy industry in China to support our research team in Beijing. This is likely to include research on power markets, renewable energy policies, electric vehicles, natural gas, oil, coal, carbon and other commodities. These projects will involve research, market and policy analysis, liaising with clients, and some modelling or report writing. You will work directly with our other research analysts based in Beijing. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the energy sector in China. At the conclusion of the internship, the successful candidate will have supported the production of several research reports, presented their findings to clients, and gained excellent exposure to the industry.

We will trust you to:

Conduct research on China's power market policies
Gather and organise data sets on renewable curtailment and coal generation
Developing models on power and carbon pricing
Speak with industry figures and BNEF clients to gather information and opinions

We'll need you to:

Native speaker for Chinese and business fluency in English
Demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm for the energy industry
Take initiative and be creative in coming up with new data collection methods
Excellent communications skills
Act as a self-starter, have a high work-rate and have the ability to work on parallel tasks with attention to detail
Derive information from public sources and in-person / telephone interviews
Have working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office applications

We would love you to have:

A keen eye for details and the curiosity to pursue data persistently through phone calls, emails and internet research
GIS modelling experience
Additional Asian languages will be a plus
