Cars 2.0: Can you imagine the car of the future? Can you imagine a world of driverless vehicles and what is going to happen to all the gas stations? The car, as we knew it for the last 100 years, is ripe for a disruption, through technology. At the Asia transport team, we are looking to inform our readers of the new road ahead. We're seeking a reliable, aggressive and hardworking editor who can tell the Asian car story to the rest of the world by working with reporters with a track record of breaking news and getting to the underbelly of what is transforming the automotive industry.

Who we look for:

An editor, preferably in Tokyo or Beijing, who can helm the Asian car story and produce the most definitive pieces for a global audience. You should be the type of person who gets excited by breaking news and can coach, work with and get the best out of reporters in the region. You should be capable of shaping story ideas and inspiring reporters to break news and write insightful stories that appeal to readers on the Bloomberg terminal, the Bloomberg Businessweek magazine as well as the website.

We'll trust you to:

  • Tell the story of the Asian car industry and its biggest companies to the world
  • Help, work with and coach reporters to break news and convert their ideas to both short-form and long-form articles
  • Be a team player and be a role model for reporters and provide them the confidence and comfort to work with you
  • Committed to the best journalistic practices and qualities for an individual

You need to have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in business and financial journalism, mostly as an editor
  • A bachelor's degree
  • A proven ability to work with others
  • Definite interest in cars
  • We'd love to see:

  • Experience helming real-time breaking news stories on significant topics
  • Extra language skills Japanese/Mandarin
