Bloomberg delivers critical information in a world where information matters. We give influential decision-makers in business, finance, and government a data-driven edge by connecting them to a dynamic network of information, people and ideas, delivered through innovative technology. Our people work well under pressure and thrive in a team environment.
Our communications team connects our company and insights with the media, financial markets, investor audiences, policymakers, and key stakeholders all over the world.

What's the role?

We are looking for a proactive, responsive, and hands-on communicator to help develop and execute Brussels-based communications targeted towards pan-EU media, policymakers, officials, and other key stakeholders.
You will work in tandem with the local and regional External Relations team – Communications, Government Relations, and Corporate Philanthropy - to partner and help deliver projects aimed at engaging key influencers within the EU.

As part of our EMEA communications team, this position focuses on building a strong communications foundation for Bloomberg in Brussels and helping to expand our voice in other key EU27 markets.

The role reports to EMEA Corporate Communications, based in London, and will work closely across the wider EMEA Communications team.

We'll trust you to:

  • Act as a local point of coordination and delivery for Bloomberg’s communications in Brussels and occasionally in selected key EU markets.
  • Partner closely with External Relations colleagues, local business leaders and other stakeholders to develop and execute a localised communications strategy.
  • Develop and manage media strategies for proprietary Bloomberg events and programmes, such as --Bloomberg EU Women in Finance, EU Policy Series, as well as media roundtables.
  • Manage media relations and strategy around key moments, including senior executive visits, client-facing events and local announcements.
  • Help promote proprietary Bloomberg research and insights to key groups and stakeholders throughout the region.
  • Play a supporting role in the company’s regional internal communications, working with the EMEA lead for internal comms to ensure our internal voice is culturally sensitive and highly relevant to every Bloomberg team member.

You'll need to have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in public relations, communications, or public affairs.
  • Experience working with or within EU institutions and a strong network across Brussels-based media
  • A strong understanding of how EU institutions interact and operate, as well as a broader understanding of media networks across major EU markets.
  • Experience in building and maintaining media and public policy relationships to generate media coverage across local markets.
  • A good instinct for reputation and issues management, and the composure to put that instinct to use.
  • The creativity to develop unique and engaging communications campaigns that showcase Bloomberg’s strengths across data, news, and insights.
  • Sound judgement and an ability to serve as a strategic partner - suggesting new ideas, accepting, and implementing feedback, and advising stakeholders - of all management levels - on best practices.
  • Speed, adaptability, and resourcefulness – particularly when writing and editing with short deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel within the region, sometimes at short notice, and work across multiple time zones as part of a global, US-headquartered organisation.
  • A great teammate who is equally passionate about supporting the most senior executive or the newest person in the company.
  • Self-starting, get-it-done attitude.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, as well as another EU language.

We'd love to see:

  • Previous experience within a PR/communications agency or in a communications-focused role within the private sector or an EU institution.
  • Proficiency in German, French, Italian, or Spanish.
  • An understanding of EU policies in the area of finance (e.g. sustainable finance, market transparency) would be an advantage.
