The Team:

As part of Bloomberg’s External Relations department, our team is responsible for leading engagement with Government and Regulatory authorities in relation to policy formation impacting Bloomberg and our clients.

Our team builds and maintains a wide and deep network of partners through the organisation of high-level summits and roundtables with key decision makers and by constructively feeding into the policymaking process.

We also coordinate closely with the other key divisions of External Relations, Bloomberg Philanthropies as well as Legal and Compliance.

The Role:

We are looking for an EU Affairs Manager to join Bloomberg’s Government and Regulatory Affairs team. You will work closely with the team to organise and execute a series of initiatives designed to convene senior policymakers and business leaders on key policy objectives around capital markets and transparency, digital finance, sustainable finance and investor protection. You will also help drive forward our work around shaping upstream policy, and help leverage Bloomberg's unique insights and experience in delivering transparency in markets with EU stakeholders.

A driven, self-starter, we will expect you to be a strategic thinker and an executor, with outstanding collaboration skills. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven track record in strategic relations throughout the EU and key Member States.

This Brussels-based role would report into the EU Affairs Director and the Government and Regulatory Affairs Head and requires more than 5 years of work experience*.
*Please note we use years of experience as a guide but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.

We'll trust you to:

  • Position Bloomberg as a key convener on important regulatory and policy debates in the EU.
  • Draft consultation responses and thought-leadership pieces, as well as coordinate and support engagement and dialogue with policymakers.
  • Design, organise and execute regulatory and policy roundtables, and high-level conferences and virtual events in Brussels.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships across the business and regulatory community
  • Support the advocacy priorities of the External Relations team.
  • Work closely with the communications and marketing teams, and collaborate with the Bloomberg Corporate Philanthropy EU team to achieve synergies on EU stakeholder engagement and regulatory priorities.
  • Identifying and coordinate new opportunities to increase client and government engagement (with a particular focus on External Relations priority locations)
  • Building, maintaining and growing an EU Government Relations contact database.

You'll need to have:

  • A deep understanding of our business and sound experience of the EU financial regulatory agenda (e.g. sustainable finance, market transparency, banking regulation and market risk, digital finance, innovation and tech), as well as significant experience working with European institutions.
  • Experience of contributing to EU policy making and engaging with EU and international policymakers and regulators.
  • Outstanding critical thinking, research, analysis and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in at least another EU language is desirable.
