Bloomberg runs on data, and in the Global Data team we're responsible for acquiring it and providing it to our clients. We collect, analyse, process and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal- the facts and figures which ultimately move the financial markets. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes- and all this while providing platinum customer support to our clients.

What’s the role?

As Earning Estimates Analysts we are responsible for the procurement and curation of estimates data from our various sell side equity research contributors. This requires us to have an interest in understanding what impacts the markets and companies we cover. Having this knowledge and being able to interpret it allows us to accurately reflect the average opinion of the market within our Earnings Estimates consensus product on the Bloomberg Terminal.

With market complexity increasing, managing consensus in the timeliest and most accurate manner while delivering key insights to our clients stands as a top priority. As a result, using subject matter expertise in a wide variety of data management tools and technologies to efficiently manage datasets is of significant importance to us. Our team covers all companies across Europe, Middle East and Africa. We constantly collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Bloomberg News to ensure that we provide the market with the most relevant earnings information on companies within our coverage.

We’ll trust you to:

• Maintain, improve and deliver accurate, high quality information for the Bloomberg Terminal
• Develop and display a strong understanding of a company’s Income Statement
• Liaise with other departments and teams, such as Data R&D/Technical Operations, Sales, News and Engineering to enhance relevant processes, tools, and product offerings
• Develop expertise in fast-moving market sector information within assigned industry sectors
• Take ownership and be active with key areas of responsibility
• Help develop and implement methods of measuring and analyzing data sets and processes (accuracy, timeliness, coverage/completeness)
• Work with a range of proprietary, industry standard, and open source data stores to assemble, organize and analyze data
• Continually expand upon technical knowledge in our bespoke technology stack
• Apply problem-solving skills to identify creative work-flow improvements and contribute to implementing technology solutions to enhance our processes (problem identification, speccing requirements, collaborating with other data analysts to build prototypes and proof-of-concepts, and collaborate with technical teams to test and implement solutions)

We need you to have:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business
• Relevant work experience in Data Processes (Data Acquisition/procurement, Data Extraction, Transformation and Loading, Database management)
• Understanding of one or more of these technical tools and languages is an advantage: JSON, Python, R, SQL, JavaScript(D3), XML, Qlikview
• Strong proficiency in English is a requirement to collaborate effectively across regions globally; an additional European language is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills, particularly stakeholder management
• Phenomenal interest in data, statistics, big data, data visualization
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment
