What’s the role?
 
As a DevSecOps Engineer at Bloomberg DMS, you will join the team working closely with our product, engineering and security teams to build and scale our continuous security program. The role is broad dealing with all stages, workflows and underlying components supporting the Software Development Life-Cycle. You will help introduce to, and implement industry best practices within the engineering team along with continuously improving the development process, driving a culture of security through automation, education, knowledge sharing, and advising/consulting with other teams. You will help to further secure our customer and vendor data, application configurations, and infrastructure from growing cybersecurity threats.
You will maintain an understanding of, and defend against the latest threats, continuing to provide the standard of excellence Bloomberg customers have come to expect.
 
What will you be doing?
 

• Working directly with our security, product, and engineering teams to implement CI/CD and security best practices across our private cloud infrastructure and applications, in a collaborative and automated manner
• Securing our Software Development Life-Cycle supporting technologies by participating in and improving security-related phases of the cycle.
• Continually research, communicate, promote and implement improvements in automation and security technologies and practices, deployments and monitoring throughout the organization.
• Driving a culture of security through education, knowledge sharing, and advising/consulting with internal teams
• Supporting and contributing to internal security policies and processes to continue to ensure organizational, vendor and customer data is secure.
 
What would we like you to have?
 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Prior experience in a DevOps/DevSecOps Engineering role
• Strong experience securing Linux based infrastructure via configuration management tools (Ansible or equivalent)
• Deep knowledge of software load-balancers, reverse proxies technologies and associated design patterns
• Strong experience working with modern Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines and underlying components and workflows, including SCM tools
• Strong experience working with modern monitoring platforms (e.g. Prometheus)
• Strong experience with Linux-based systems and containerized environments
• Experience supporting and securing micro-services (JAVA/Python/Javascript) and REST APIs
• Exceptional written and verbal communication in English
 
Nice to Haves:
 

• Experience with Kubernetes or equivalent container orchestration platforms
• Experience with industry-leading secrets management platforms (e.g. Hashicorp Vault)
• Experience working with leading Cloud Platforms (e.g. AWS/GCP)
• Experience working with or supporting Java (Springboot), Python, and/or Javascript
• Experience working with/supporting relational Database Management platforms
• Experience working in a security focussed environment
