Bloomberg is seeking a full-time political stringer in Kuala Lumpur to help produce stories for our international finance and web audience. The successful candidate will have to keep on top of all aspects of Malaysia's political developments, from court proceedings to government policy, party politics and elections.

We're looking for a well-connected, self-starting journalist who will work with colleagues in Malaysia and the ASEAN region, helping to break news and report on memorable stories from one of the largest economies in Southeast Asia.

You will have strong news judgement and reporting skills. You will be expected to file clean, accurate copy and communicate clearly in a timely manner from the field.

We'll trust you to:

• Develop sources and break news at all levels of the Malaysian government
• Jump on unexpected news developments to meet urgent coverage needs
• Cover events in government and at court as needed

We'd like to see:

• At least five years’ experience in political, financial or business journalism
• A deep understanding of Malaysian government and the intersection of politics, business, commodities and finance
• A track record of breaking news
• Ability to work steadily and calmly under pressure
• Confidence interpreting and handling government announcements and court proceedings
