The Team:

The Desktop Build Group is a team which works very closely with Bloomberg's Sales and Product departments to help in increasing our clients' dependency on our product by creating desktop solutions revolving primarily around our Python/Excel APIs. Projects the team work on include assisting our clients in transitioning their worksheets from competitor-linked products to Bloomberg data, building sophisticated models that fill a specific product gap as well as collaborating with Product Development to drive product enhancements.

The Role:

In this role you will have the opportunity to be involved in various aspects of the team, mainly working on our Python Quant development platform which combines world-class open source python libraries with the world's leading financial database as well as on internal reporting tools (using Java and SQL), projects which have a direct impact on Bloomberg clients. Candidates will get first-hand experience in working in a supportive, dynamic, global team and experience how widely used Excel models are created and deployed.

If successful, you may be eligible for a full time position either in this team or on one of our other full time programmes e.g. Engineering, Global Data, Analytics & Sales.

Requirements:

Working towards:

  • a Master's in Computer Science/Data Science with an inclination towards Finance (more convenient) or,
  • a Master's in Finance with an inclination towards technology or,
  • a Master's in a quantitative subject with a strong demonstrable interest in Finance and Computer Science
  • Knowledge of Python (essential) and interested in enhancing such a skill set
  • Knowledge in any of Excel, VBA, Java, SQL (desirable)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Good verbal, presentation, and written communication skills

We'd love to see:

  • Ability to speak an additional European language

The Process

We recruit on a rolling basis so early application is strongly advised. Please note this is not a pipeline internship; if successful, you will be eligible to apply for a full time position on one of our other full time programmes e.g. Global Data or Analytics & Sales.
