What is the Apprenticeship Programme?

This Apprenticeship Programme at Bloomberg is an exciting opportunity to take your first steps in changing or starting a rewarding career. During your time with us we will support you in combining work and education - you will have an opportunity to gain a qualification as a Junior Journalist while also being an important and highly valued member of the team. We will trust you to build your knowledge of financial markets, investment operations, various asset classes and products to support our clients with your expertise. 

Bloomberg News Apprentice will gain hands-on experience reporting for the print department of one of the world's leading financial news services. During the programme, you will produce breaking news stories under deadline for our coverage of markets, companies, economies, and governments. Responsibilities will include pitching and writing enterprise stories, conducting exclusive interviews, and collaborating with our other media platforms. Administrative tasks which are critical in ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained will also be a part of the role.

Introducing the Bloomberg TV team

Bloomberg Television is a 24-hour global news channel covering politics, economics and finance. We provide markets news, data and analysis powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in more than 120 countries. Our interviews with C-suite executives, politicians and thought leaders drive the financial news agenda. We aim to be must-watch viewing for those who need to know what's moving the markets.  
We are part of Bloomberg LP's media business spanning television, digital, magazine, radio and live event platforms. In the midst of an historic time in the news industry, Bloomberg Media is growing its global footprint and reach through new innovations from QuickTake to New Economy. 
 
Bloomberg TV is seeking a Junior Broadcast Journalist to join the apprentice programme in London. This is an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of television news and gain hands-on experience in production. We'll teach you key markets concepts, and editorial skills such as writing scripts, editing video, researching stories and collaborating with other media platforms. You'll also learn skills such as organisation, adaptability, creative thinking and the ability to work well under pressure. Administrative tasks which are critical in ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained will also be a part of the role. 
To be part of the team, you must have a drive to learn, a passion for television news and a keen interest in business. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Available to start September 2022  
  •  A minimum of three GCSEs grade A – C (Including Maths & English) 
  •  Learners must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship in a similar subject 
  • Possess the right to work in the UK

  •  Ability to work calmly under pressure 
  •  Be great at time and workload management 
  •  Excellent written communication skills 
  •  Strong organisation skills and an eye for detail 
  •  Experience working as part of a team 
  •  Willingness to work early mornings 

Interview Process:

Step 1: Online Application Form: Submit an online application form along with your most up-to-date CV and/or your UCAS personal statement. Show us you are eligible.

Step 2: Telephone Interview: Successful candidates will be invited to schedule a 20 minute telephone conversation with a Bloomberg Recruiter. Show us you are motivated.

Step 3: Team Leader Interview: Complete some interactive online tasks and exercises designed to help you demonstrate your strengths and abilities. Show us you are capable.

Step 4: Final Interview: Meet with our Managers to discuss your motivations and potential. Show us you are the best person for the apprenticeship.
