What is the Apprenticeship Programme?

This Apprenticeship Programme at Bloomberg is an exciting opportunity to take your first steps in changing or starting a rewarding career. During your time with us we will support you in combining work and education - you will have an opportunity to gain a qualification in Artificial Intelligence free of charge (with an optional master’s degree top up) while also being an important and highly valued member of the team. We will trust you to build your knowledge of various technology tools and coding in data management space as well as some understanding of the financial markets to support our clients with their data-related queries, in addition to data domain experts.
This opportunity will provide you with an alternative route into a global organisation away from the classic university pathway. You will have a chance to learn from our experts, develop and grow, while working within a collaborative and innovative environment. During this programme you will build software that fuels innovative solutions for the Bloomberg Terminal and our wider suite of products. You will design high-impact solutions to help our customers optimize complex workflows, efficiently manipulate large datasets, and make quick, intuitive decisions. Our priority is delivering an excellent experience to our customers.

Introducing the Trading Automation and Analytics (TAA) Products team

The TAA team sits within the Enterprise Products area of the business. Enterprise Products focuses on delivering a scalable and modular risk and order management system centered around our industry leading Execution Management System (EMS) and trading venues, backed by our data, analytics and insights. Aligned around common client workflows and services, the team builds common components that are deployed via standard APIs across both native and third party channels in a user-agnostic way. Enterprise Products thoughtfully collaborates between Product and Engineering to achieve this shared vision.
TAA’s core mission is twofold. Firstly to design, build and deploy class leading products that enable our trading clients to automate their activity on our venue and routing businesses. Secondly, to use data to support and develop new decision support tools that can enhance the ability of execution traders.
The team looks after Bloomberg Rule Builder (RBLD) across all asset classes, Broker Wheel, as well as numerous analytic functions relied upon by thousands of clients globally every day.
Your role within the team will be to apply the AI and Data Science knowledge, gained through the AI Data Specialist qualification and independent research, to both create and enhance features including back-testing tools, smart rule creation screens, broker wheels and client analysis.
In addition, you will work closely with Product Managers to develop plans, write specifications and create documentation, including quality assurance oversight, and release planning. You will independently manage some projects from ideation to product release and work collaboratively with other Product Manager colleagues to integrate adjacent Bloomberg services in delivering a cohesive and consistent platform experience. You will actively engage with engineering, client support, data, and product teams to improve production processes and to increase the operational efficiency of the business.
