We help clients stay on top of developments via our comprehensive web and mobile-based platforms. Operating with a start-up mentality within the larger Bloomberg enterprise, our responsibility is to develop & deploy cutting-edge software that meets the needs of our high profile customers.

We're seeking an energetic and talented senior backend-end software engineer with strong technical and programming skills and some dev-ops experience to join our cross-functional Scrum team and help refine and expand our customer-facing website. This detail-oriented role involves developing our DB-backed, server-side PHP applications and APIs that drive our single-page web application and driving improvements in our Continuous Delivery and Integration environments.

We'll trust you to:

  • Write well-designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our site
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends
  • Cooperate with product owners and other stakeholders to meet product requirements
  • Collaborate within an Agile, multi-disciplinary Scrum team
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues

You'll need to have:

  • Proven work experience in enterprise-level web programming and mastery of PHP 5.6
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
  • Substantial knowledge of relational database systems, object-oriented programming and software design patterns

We'd love to see:

  • A passion for automated testing and process efficiency
  • Proficiency working in and maintaining a Continuous Delivery environment, especially with GitHub and Jenkins
  • Knowledgeable about Linux, Apache, SSL, PHP-FPM, and shell scripting
  • Familiarity with Vagrant and cloud-based virtualisation
  • Experience with DRM systems, particularly Adobe LiveCycle, is a plus
  • Exposure to client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, particularly AngularJS 1.x and SASS, or an interest to learn
