We are seeking a motivated and talented individual to join our European power analyst team and, working with our gas, carbon and commodities teams, help build out a world class multi-market research and analysis service. You’re someone with several years’ experience in energy and markets who enjoys updating your positions as new information becomes available. Your quantitative skills are strong and you work quickly under pressure. You can communicate your arguments verbally and through charts and writing. You enjoy working in a team, teaching and learning from colleagues and are excited by the prospect of working in an international role with colleagues and clients from a wide range of backgrounds.

We'll trust you to:

• Produce ongoing updates on the short-term outlook for Europe’s major power markets.
• Collaborate with our core commodities data team to streamline the integration of Bloomberg data feeds into your analysis.
• Help shape the development of a standalone energy commodities product with the power, gas and carbon analyst teams.
• Support our sales team through conversations with prospective clients, both over the phone and in person.
• Build relationships with our clients and address their questions in a timely manner.

You'll need to have:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in related field such as economics, statistics, computer science, or engineering; other fields acceptable provided technical skills can be demonstrated
• 5+ years’ experience of analyzing/trading commodities markets, preferably power
• Deep understanding of commercial strategies and tactics used in energy market in areas such as; trading strategies, asset optimisation, real option analysis, portfolio hedging and risk management.
• Ability to prioritize and apply a pragmatic approach to deliver client value within required timelines.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
• Direct experience developing fundamental market models for power and gas markets such as; power generation stacks and demand forecasts.
• Experience writing reports on power and gas markets for internal or external clients.

We'd love to see:

• Experience of working internationally
• Knowledge of another European language
• Experience using market analysis tools; Bloomberg, Reuters, Montel, GlobalView etc.
• Programming experience; Python, C++, R or Matlab
